While my speciality is eating disorders, I have extensive experience treating successfully a wide variety of issues including trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, relationship issues and life transitions, substance abuse and other problematic behaviors.
With warmth, humor and clear insight, I use a mindfulness-based mind/body approach to work with clients collaboratively on achieving their goals.
I treat the full-spectrum of eating disorders including Binge Eating Disorder. I work closely with my client’s treatment teams (and will help you establish a treatment team if you don’t yet have one) and work collaboratively to help my clients make and maintain progress on an outpatient level of care. I do treat adolescents as well as adults and will try to include families and partners as part of the larger treatment team. A key component of my work is helping clients make peace with, and hopefully find pleasure in, their bodies – no matter the size.
I enjoy couple’s work and use a DBT-based approach to help couples learn to resolve issues in effective ways and increase connection and intimacy.
I will be offering a class in Radically-Open DBT therapy for over-controlled temperaments starting September 13, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. My office suite has a large and comfortable group room and my colleague, Mary DiOrio, LCSW and I plan to offer more groups – including one on body image – in the near future.
I am approved to provide LPC supervision with the Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. Please contact me if you are interested.
